Deepak Chopra’s Ask: Take a Vow of Non-Violence
Posted by Stephanie Miller on January 13th, 2009
For those of you who haven’t heard yet, Dr. Deepak Chopra joined Daily Challenge last month! Just yesterday, he challenged the community to, “Take the vow of nonviolence in your thoughts, speech and actions. Visit http://www.itakethevow.com and get counted in this global movement.”
The results are in: 32 Do Gooders accepted the challenge and 11 people completed it (so far). The community seemed to be pretty excited about Dr. Chopra’s challenge, and to prove it, here are the posted comments:

What a beautiful way to start the new year. Being truly non-violent to everyone, even in our thoughts and speech. So often we think of violence as physical, but we kill people (even ourselves and our futures) with our thoughts and words.
Thank You Deepak!

What a beautiful concept! We all rush to our computers for the latest joke or bite of information; why not use that time to think about doing some good for the world? We all benefit this way!

I love Deepak’s challenge! It promotes self-awareness (my 2009 goal!). This challenge is ultra cool for me because while I’m kind towards others, I often catch myself thinking negative thoughts about me or indulge in self-destructive behaviour. I’ve taken the vow!

The Alliance for a New Humanity believes that if a critical mass of 100 Million people commit to this vow, the world will be transformed. Our planet is in serious trouble and we need world peace now.more than ever. I became the 12, 722 person to take the vow at 2:22 PM Jan 12, 2009. What will you do?

Very beautifully put! I have taken the vow and forwarded the message on to all my e-mail buddies.
If you haven’t taken Deepak Chopra’s vow of non-violence yet and want to, or you’d like to learn more about it, just jump onto www.Itakethevow.com. If you’re skeptical about the realism of taking such a vow, or would like some ideas in how to incorporate it into your life, try reading some the answers from the site’s FAQs.
Do you have any tips in how we are to stay aware enough to keep all thoughts of non-violence from our thoughts, actions and speech?
