Holiday Challenges - Your Thoughts

Posted by Stephanie Miller on December 3rd, 2008

The holidays are fast approaching (actually, they’re already here!) and ask anyone, even Scrooge, and they’d tell you this is the season for doing good.

So we need your help, Do Gooders! We need primo challenges worthy of this Do Good Season. We’d like to know:

1) what are some of your holiday challenges?
2) how would you like to star on the homepage of Daily Challenge?

Please leave your challenge ideas in the comments below, and if you’re not too shy, tell us you want to be celebrity challenger sometime over the holidays!

Here are some of my ideas for holiday challenges (happy to be a ‘celeb’ challenger if they’re any good):

Simple… Spend a part of Christmas Day with the homeless, elderly, or children in need in your local community.

Complicated… Organize a Secret Santa game that has your friends buy gifts that one another would have enjoyed as kids, have a good laugh together, and then donate them to a toy charity.

Plain fun… Bake Christmas cookies to share where you work, study, or live.

Thanks, Satish, these are excellent challenges!

I like the idea of just getting out an interacting with someone new. It is so easy when it is cold to just want to hole up and stick to what is comfortable, but a face to face interaction or some sort of unsolicited kindness can so such an amazing world of good for someone else during this often depressing type of year.

My personal challenge to my daughter is this:

pre Christmas: chose half your toys (one for you, one for donation) and help mommy clean them. then walk them over to the Women’s shelter with Mommy.

After Christmas: go shopping with Mommy to buy new toys to donate. (Santa brings her $100 in her stocking for this purpose)

so, my challenge to you all is to engage your children. make them a part of bringing a wonderful Christmas to those around them.

and perhaps, at the same time, teach them the true meaning of Christmas.

Wow, these are great challenges. Thanks, Do Gooders! :)
