Welcome to the new DailyChallenge.org! If you’re an active Do Gooder, you may have noticed that we went live with what we’re calling Beta 2.0 of Daily Challenge last Wednesday morning. We’re still rolling out a number of updates over the next few days, but I wanted to take some time to walk you through some of the biggest changes.
So, what’s new with DailyChallenge.org? In short, everything. We’ve spent the last five months examining user preferences and listening to community feedback. We even conducted a series of usability tests in late January. The results were clear: everyone jived with the concept of doing random acts of kindness but desperately needed an easier way to get it done. So, we overhauled the entire site and essentially built it again from the ground up. Only this time, we were able to apply all the lessons we had learned to help make Daily Challenge more about you.
Let’s take a short tour through some of the major changes.

It’s been a little over a month since the dev team has reported on any new releases, but in reality we’ve been rolling out a handful of small changes over the course of the last 30 days (we’re ninjas like that). Have you noticed the newly-designed profile pages? Comment count on challenges? Smoother comment-posting?
Today, we’re adding to that list a handful of exciting updates that we think will change the way you interact with the site. Introducing Most Active Challenges and Open Profiles!
Most Active Challenges
After analyzing usage patterns, feedback and community preferences, we are introducing a new way to organize challenges in the community. The brand new Most Active tab uses a custom-crafted algorithm to display the most active challenges at a specific moment in time. We’ve defined a challenge’s activeness as a factor of user interaction as well as time. This is all in an effort to find the most natural and relevant way to let you see the challenges you’d most likely be interested in.

It’s release day again here at Daily Challenge and we’re happy to announce the arrival of Beta 1.4! Everyday we’re getting handfuls of valuable feedback from our community (that’s you guys) with ways to improve the experience around the site. If you’ve ever submitted a complaint or suggestion about an existing or new feature but haven’t gotten a response, rest assured that we’ve seen it and have incorporated it into our regular planning cycles. Stephanie (Daily Challenge’s lovely Community Director) already does an awesome job at keeping on top of what you’re saying and staying in touch with all of you, and she really makes a point to make sure you’re all heard!
Speaking of amazing people, our Chief Architect Luciano Sampaio continues to work his magic and develop new features for the DC community to enjoy and interact with. The entire team, in fact, has put a lot of sweat and strength (or as Stephanie calls it, Swength) into this new release, so we really hope you like it.

It’s release day and the team is stoked about the new features that have gone live today. It’s been a very busy and productive 11 days since our Beta 1.2 release so I hope you’re all enjoying the new release. In case you haven’t spotted all the new tidbits around the site, this post will give you an overview of exactly what we worked on as well as what’s to come.
