I try to have an attitude of gratitude every day ~ even when life seems to be all gloom and doom.
Sometimes it helps to write things down in a journal to separate the good, from the bad and the ugly. Oprah did a show called Spirituality 101 yesterday, reminding us to first be thankful to be ALIVE. She suggested that it might be easier to find things to be grateful for, by looking outside of ourselves, because there is always someone in the world, WORSE off, (think about them) and often, those people are grateful for ANY thing ~ which really puts everything in perspective. Thanks for the challenge!

I'm grateful for so many things, but the last several days I've been working on a difficult project. Today I finally looked up from that project and it was great to see a reminder to look for what I'm grateful for. Excellent challenge! Thanks!

"When you arise in the morning,
give thanks for the morning light,
    for your life and strength.
    Give thanks for your food
    and the joy of living.
If you see no reason for giving thanks,
    the fault lies in yourself.

I started a gratitude journal with the goal of writing the minimum of 5 things per day about 3-4 years ago. Oprah suggested this idea. The days I take the time to write helps me to find the good for that day , puts me in a better mood and helps me notice the good the next day.. These journals have made a real difference in my life.
