Pay It Backward Day Happened Again - in a BIG way!
This past September 30th, your Daily Challenge team embarked on one of our most exciting adventures yet! You want to know more, eh? Well, in a nutshell: we paired up with The Second Cup Ltd and Silk Soy Beverage Canada to put on our second (and most awesome) Pay It Backward Day event ever - all across Ontario!
Pay It Backward Day was born from one of our earliest and most simple challenges: "Buy a coffee for the person behind you in line today." So, on September 30th we invited Do Gooders throughout Ontario to visit any one of the province's 170+ participating Second Cup cafés and do just that - pay for the person behind them in line. Imagine the ripple effect of thousands of people committing such a small random act of kindness! The added bonus? Every time somebody Paid It Backward on September 30th, Second Cup Ltd, Silk Soy Beverage and our donation partner Ivanhoe Cambridge agreed to donate $5* to SickKids Foundation!

Needless to say, September 30th was a fantastically memorable day! We had a goal of inspiring 3,000 acts of "coffee kindness" - and frankly, you guys blew it out of the water! The official count of generous Do Gooders who came out to Pay It Backward for SickKids totaled at a whopping 20,287! And what's better - those 20,287 small acts of kindness benefited SickKids in a BIG way - raising $15,000 for SickKids Foundation in a single day!
Not only was 'good' being done all across Ontario - but we had a BLAST in the process! At the Pay It Backward Day headquarters location (Queen St. & John St. in Toronto) we had tons of fun stuff going on, such as:
- J-Wyze, Jeni, Taboo, and Jus Red from FLOW 93.5 DJing and streaming live-to-air on location
- Julie C, Talia Russo, and Leo Stakos celebrity serving throughout the day
- Freestyle Soccer performing footy tricks and street entertainment
- Scott Jackson - Canadian Beat Box Champion - doing his thing alongside Team FLOW
